Pixar Pier Paradise: Lamplight Lounge

Lamplight Lounge is the signature dining spot on Pixar Pier, and the one detail most guests get wrong before they even walk in: it’s not one restaurant with an upstairs and downstairs. It’s two separate restaurants stacked on top of each other, with two different menus, two different booking systems, and two very different experiences.

Get that distinction right before your trip and the rest of the planning gets a lot easier.

Downstairs: Lamplight Lounge. Reservations required (or a walk-up spot on the mobile waitlist if you’re flexible). Full entrees, brunch, kids’ meals, the whole menu.

Upstairs: Lamplight Lounge – Boardwalk Dining. Walk-up only, no reservation needed. A shorter menu of shareable appetizers, sliders, and drinks. No entrees, no desserts, no kids’ menu.

Same building, same Pixar theming, same waterfront view over Paradise Bay. Different restaurants. Here’s everything you need for both.

Where It Is and What It’s Themed To

Lamplight Lounge sits right on the water at Pixar Pier in Disney California Adventure, celebrating the artists behind Pixar’s films rather than any one movie. The design leans into that idea hard: exposed brick, warm lamp fixtures, and walls covered in real concept sketches and animator artwork from across the Pixar library. It’s one of the more atmospheric sit-down spots in either park, and the patio seating over Paradise Bay is the draw for a lot of guests planning around World of Color.

Magic Tip! In-park dining requires a valid theme park reservation and admission to Disney California Adventure for the same day, for every guest age 3 and up. A dining reservation does not guarantee park entry on its own.

Downstairs: Lamplight Lounge (Full Menu, Reservations)

This is the main event: indoor dining, bar seating, and an open-air patio right over the water. It’s also home to a hidden bonus most guests never find. Look for a vault-style door off the downstairs dining room, it leads to a small hidden room called The Office, originally built as a private space for Disney Imagineers and Pixar artists visiting the park. It’s not a separate reservation, just ask when you check in if you’d like to be seated there.

Reservations: Bookable up to 60 days out through the Disneyland app or website. This is one of the harder tables to land at Disney California Adventure, so if it’s a priority, book the moment your window opens. No reservation? You can join the mobile walk-up waitlist in the app, subject to availability, worth checking first thing in the morning of your visit.

Hours run in two seatings with a short gap between lunch and dinner service, so double check the app for the exact times on your visit day, they shift slightly by season and day of week.

Brunch Menu (Weekends, Limited Weekday Availability)

  • Lamplight Chilaquiles — house-made tortilla chips in a three-chile red sauce, cheddar-jack cheese, two eggs, queso fresco, red onion, cilantro-serrano sour cream, and avocado, topped with pepitas
  • Steak and Eggs — New York steak, two eggs, piquillo butter sauce, arugula salad, pickled onions, and breakfast potatoes
  • Lamplight French Toast — tres leches custard, fresh strawberries, strawberry coulis, whipped cream, and toasted almonds
  • Smoked Salmon Egg White Omelet — dill cream cheese, avocado, crispy capers, green goddess baby gem salad
  • Potato Flautas — plant-based chorizo, dairy-free piquillo crema, serrano-tomatillo salsa, and arugula salad, a solid plant-based brunch option

Lunch and Dinner Menu

  • Lobster Nachos — the holdover favorite from the old Cove Bar days, still the most-ordered item on the menu. Warm lobster, black beans, cheddar-Oaxaca cheese sauce, pico de gallo, and chipotle cream
  • Charbroiled Cheddar Burger — lettuce, house pickles, tomato, grilled onions, and Lamplight spread on a sesame bun, served with seasoned fries
  • Prime Rib — herb salt-crusted, whipped potatoes, grilled rainbow carrots, wasabi cream, and au jus
  • Impossible Burger — two seasoned plant-based patties, American cheese, house spread, grilled onions, lettuce, and tomato on a potato bun, with seasoned fries
  • Brussels Caesar — house-made dressing, toasted pine nuts, garlic croutons, roasted red pepper and tomato sauce
  • Brownie — vanilla bean ice cream, berry sauce, and fresh berries, the go-to dessert if you’re splitting one at the table

Kids’ meals are downstairs-only, served with a side of veggies, hummus, and fresh fruit.

Upstairs: Lamplight Lounge – Boardwalk Dining (Walk-Up Only)

This is the casual, no-reservation option, and it’s genuinely underused by guests who don’t realize it’s a separate line from downstairs. Open-air seating, metal umbrella tables, a full bar, and the same waterfront view without the wait for a table reservation.

The menu here is shorter and built around sharing: apps, sliders, and drinks, no entrees or desserts.

  • Lobster Nachos — the same fan-favorite as downstairs, warm lobster, black beans, aged cheddar-Oaxaca cheese sauce, pico de gallo, and chipotle cream
  • Spotlight Nachos — chile-spiced beef barbacoa over house-made tortilla chips with pinto bean puree, spicy tomatillo salsa, onions, cilantro, chipotle cheese sauce, queso fresco, and pickled jalapeños
  • Angus Beef Sliders — beer and bacon cheese sauce, tomato-habanero chutney, lettuce, and pickled onions on toasted Amish buns
  • Beer-Battered Fish Tacos — corn tortillas, avocado sauce, chipotle sauce, cabbage, pico de gallo, radishes, micro cilantro, and lime
  • Korean-Style Chicken Wings — kimchi buffalo sauce, green onions, served with spicy cucumber

Non-alcoholic drinks lean into the Pixar theming, with names like Goofball Island (fruit punch, lemonade, and raspberry purée) and Falling with Style (lemonade with mango purée). A limited-edition Pixar Ball Sipper cup is available with any non-alcoholic beverage purchase.

On the alcohol side, expect a rotating lineup of California draft beers, hard cider, and specialty cocktails, many with filmmaking-themed names like Over Budget and The Sequel. Guests must be 21+ with valid ID, and there’s a two-drink limit per transaction.

Magic Tip! No reservation, no waitlist wait, just walk up. If downstairs is fully booked and you still want the Lamplight experience, Boardwalk Dining upstairs is the move, especially for a lighter meal or an afternoon drink with a view.

Can I get a full meal upstairs? No. Boardwalk Dining’s menu is appetizers, sliders, and drinks only, no entrees and no dessert. If you want a full meal, you need the downstairs restaurant.

Is there a kids’ menu? Yes, downstairs only. It’s not offered upstairs at Boardwalk Dining.

What’s the most popular dish? Lobster Nachos, by a wide margin, and it’s on both menus, upstairs and downstairs, so you can get it either way.

Is there a hidden room at Lamplight Lounge? Yes. Ask about The Office when you’re seated downstairs, a small hidden room behind a vault-style door, originally built as a private space for Disney Imagineers and Pixar artists.

Can I watch World of Color from here? The waterfront patio, both upstairs and downstairs, faces Paradise Bay where World of Color takes place, making this one of the more popular dining-with-a-view spots for the show. Reserve a patio table specifically if that’s the plan, and check our latest closures and updates post for the current World of Color lineup.
