Tickets are already on sale. Some of the best dates are probably already gone. Before you spend $139 to $199 per person on a five-hour party, here’s the honest breakdown of what you’re actually paying for, and whether the cheaper alternative might serve you better.

What you’re actually buying
Oogie Boogie Bash is a separately ticketed, after-hours event at Disney California Adventure, running select nights from August 18 through October 31, 2026. Your ticket includes:
- Park admission to DCA starting at 3:00 PM, three hours before the 6:00 PM party start
- The party itself, running until 11:00 PM
- Access to Halloween-overlay attractions like Mater’s Graveyard JamBOOree and Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark
- Immersive trick-or-treat trails with unlimited candy
- Rare character appearances that don’t happen during regular Halloween Time hours
- The Redwood Creek Challenge Trail villain walk-through
- The new “Madame Leota’s Swinging Wake – A Haunted Mansion Street Party,” replacing the Frightfully Fun Parade this year
- A costume-friendly dress code, the one night adults can wear full costumes in the park
Pricing runs $139 to $199 per guest, ages 3 and up. No Magic Key, child, military, or group discounts apply. Limit 8 tickets per guest per date.
The case for going
You get 8 hours in DCA for less crowd density than a regular day. Because Oogie Boogie Bash is capacity-limited by ticket sales, the park during party hours never reaches the density of a normal Halloween Time day. That means shorter waits on the rides that are open, real face time with characters you won’t see any other way, and a nighttime atmosphere that regular admission simply doesn’t offer.
The rare characters are genuinely rare. This isn’t marketing language. Certain villains and character pairings at Oogie Boogie Bash don’t appear anywhere else at the resort, any time of year. If character meet-and-greets are a priority for your family, especially for villain-loving kids, this is the one place to get them.
The new Haunted Mansion street party could be the best entertainment addition in years. Swapping the parade for a Madame Leota-centered street party built around one of Disney’s most beloved rides is a real bet by the entertainment team. If Haunted Mansion is a favorite in your house, this alone might justify the ticket.
It’s the only night adults can wear costumes. If dressing up as a family is part of your Halloween tradition and you want to do it inside a Disney park, there’s no other legal way to make that happen at Disneyland.
The case for skipping it
The base Halloween Time experience is already excellent, and it’s included with regular admission. Haunted Mansion Holiday, the seasonal food across both parks, the Halloween Screams nighttime spectacular, the pumpkin-carved Main Street decor, all of it runs daily from August 21 through October 31 with a standard ticket. You are not missing “Halloween at Disneyland” if you skip Oogie Boogie Bash. You’re specifically missing the party layer on top of it.
The parade is gone, and that’s a real loss for some guests. The Frightfully Fun Parade was a genuine crowd favorite for years. Its replacement is new and unproven. If you’re going specifically for nostalgia around the old parade format, temper expectations, that version isn’t happening in 2026.
The math gets steep for families. A family of four at even the cheapest $139 tier is looking at $556 for one evening, before parking, food, or souvenirs. At October pricing near $199, that same family is at $796. Compare that to a full day of standard admission covering the exact same seasonal overlays, food, and Halloween Screams fireworks, just without the rare characters and costumes.
There are no discounts, and the ticket doesn’t stack with anything. No Magic Key pricing, no military rate, no bulk discount for larger groups. What you see is what you pay, full price, every single date.
The alternative worth knowing about
If budget is the deciding factor, Disneyland has run $104 single-day ticket promotions on select September dates this year, alongside a Kids’ Summer Ticket Offer with child admission as low as $50 for a 1-Day Park Hopper on visits through September 7. Stack either of those against a regular Halloween Time day, and you get the full seasonal experience, the decor, the food, Haunted Mansion Holiday, the fireworks, at a fraction of what a family of four spends on one Oogie Boogie Bash night.
The honest framing: Oogie Boogie Bash isn’t a better version of Halloween Time. It’s a different, smaller-scale, higher-priced event layered on top of it, built around rarity and costumes rather than being a more complete experience. If rare characters and costumes matter to your family, it’s worth the money. If you just want the Halloween season atmosphere without the premium, skip it and go on a discounted regular day instead.
Bottom line
Worth it if: you’re chasing specific rare character meet-and-greets, your family wants to wear costumes inside the park, or the new Haunted Mansion street party is a must-see for you specifically.
Skip it if: you’re budget-conscious, you’re satisfied with the standard Halloween Time overlays and food, or you were specifically attached to the old parade format and don’t want to risk disappointment with its replacement.
Either way, know this before you buy: tickets for the popular dates, Sundays and anything close to October 31, sell out fast. If you’re going to do it, don’t wait on the decision. And if you’re going to skip it, don’t feel like you’re missing “real” Halloween at Disneyland. You’re not.
