Avengers Campus is Disney California Adventure’s training ground for the next generation of Super Heroes, and that’s not just marketing copy, it’s genuinely built into how the land works. Characters roam in and out of storylines throughout the day, the food leans into Pym Technologies’ size-shifting gimmick, and there’s a real sense that you’ve wandered onto an active headquarters rather than a themed backdrop.
One important heads-up before you go: Avengers Campus is currently under refurbishment to make way for two new attractions, and the walkway connecting it directly to Cars Land is closed during construction. You can still reach Avengers Campus through the Performance Corridor or through Hollywood Land, just don’t plan on a quick cut-through from Cars Land right now.
Rides at Avengers Campus
WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure
Best for: families and thrill-minded guests who want an interactive ride with a real skill element, not just a screen to watch.
You’re recruited into the Worldwide Engineering Brigade to help wrangle Spider-Bots that have multiplied out of control, using a hand-motion web-slinging mechanic that actually rewards aim and timing. It’s one of the best rope drop priorities in the entire park. Even better, some queue entrances let you walk partway into Avengers Campus itself while you wait for rope drop, so you’re not stuck all the way at the land’s edge when the ropes finally drop. If you’re holding Lightning Lane Multi Pass, ride it standby first thing, then book a Multi Pass return for later in the day, it’s a genuinely good way to ride it twice without burning two full standby waits.
Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT!
Best for: thrill-seekers, and honestly, for non-riders too.
A randomized free-fall ride through the Collector’s fortress, set to a rotating soundtrack of classic rock. If part of your group wants to ride and part doesn’t, don’t assume the non-riders have to sit it out entirely, you can ask a cast member for a walkthrough, which lets you experience the queue’s elaborate collection room even if you’re not getting on the ride itself. It’s genuinely worth doing even just for the walkthrough if that’s all your group can manage together.
Coming Soon: Avengers Infinity Defense and Stark Flight Lab
Avengers Campus is currently under construction for a Phase 2 expansion that will double the land’s size, adding two brand-new attractions. Neither has an opening date yet, so don’t plan a trip around them just yet, but here’s what to expect once they arrive.
Avengers Infinity Defense is the bigger of the two, a motion-based E-ticket dark ride built around an alternate timeline where a version of Thanos, “King Thanos,” won. Robert Downey Jr. is reprising his role as Tony Stark for the attraction, and expect appearances from Black Panther, Ant-Man, and the Hulk. It’s being built behind the Avengers Headquarters building.
Stark Flight Lab shares the same building and is a smaller, secondary attraction, a flight-simulator-style experience where guests sit in two-person pods that get grabbed and spun by a robotic arm, testing out new flight technology from Tony Stark’s workshop.
A new restroom building is also being added between Avengers Campus and Cars Land as part of this same construction project.
Shows and Entertainment
Avengers Campus leans heavily on live entertainment and roaming characters rather than a single fixed show schedule. Keep an eye out for Black Panther, Captain Marvel, Black Widow, Thor, Doctor Strange, Ant-Man, The Wasp, and members of the Guardians of the Galaxy throughout the day, they appear individually and in small groups rather than at one dedicated meet-and-greet spot.
There’s normally a larger Avengers-focused show at Avengers Headquarters, but it’s currently paused during the construction affecting this land. The Sanctum show (Doctor Strange) has also become harder to catch from a distance during construction, it’s a bit too far to comfortably watch from Pym’s Test Kitchen the way you used to be able to. Iron Man appearances are still possible depending on the day, worth keeping an eye out for even if you can’t plan around a fixed time.
Our tip: grab a table at Pym’s Test Kitchen with decent sightlines and you can often catch whatever’s happening on the street while you eat, less effective for the Sanctum show right now given the construction-related distance, but still a good general strategy for catching Iron Man or roaming character moments without giving up your whole meal to stand and watch.
Where to Eat
Pym Test Kitchen is the land’s main dining stop, sized-shifted comfort food playing on the “Pym Particles” gimmick from the films. It’s also one of the few spots at the resort with a freestyle soda machine that allows refills, worth knowing if you’re trying to cut down on buying individual bottled drinks throughout the day. Bring a refillable cup (several Avengers Campus shops sell them) and you can refill there instead of paying for a new drink every time.
Shawarma Palace serves Middle Eastern-inspired food, a nod to the shawarma scene from the first Avengers film, with options like the Impossible Victory Falafel. Terran Treats rounds out the land’s dining with sweets, including the Infinity Cream Puffs.
Shopping at Avengers Campus
Avengers Vault carries higher-end collectibles and prop replicas, think Thanos’ Infinity Gauntlet, Loki’s scepter, and the Tesseract, alongside general Avengers merchandise. Web Suppliers is Spider-Man’s outpost for apparel and web-slinging gear. Collectors Warehouse rounds things out with pins, figures, and general Marvel collectibles.
