World of Color is getting its name back. Disney confirmed at D23 2026 that the current “World of Color – One” is being retired, with the original World of Color title returning in February 2027, along with a refreshed lineup of film segments.
If you’ve been to DCA any time since 2021, you’ve only seen the “One” version. This is the first major format change to the show since then.
What’s Actually Changing
Disney is not bringing back the exact 2010-era show. This is described as an updated take on the original World of Color concept, built with new segments drawn from The Little Mermaid, The Lion King, Finding Nemo, and Toy Story. Expect the fountain and projection technology in Paradise Bay to carry the show, similar to how “One” operated, but with a different film lineup and presumably a different musical throughline.
The name change back to World of Color signals Disney sees this as a return to form rather than another temporary overlay. “One” was always framed as a limited-run tribute to Disney’s 100th anniversary. This is its permanent replacement.
When It Returns
February 2027 is the confirmed return date. No exact day has been announced, and Disney has not said whether “World of Color – One” runs continuously until the switch or goes dark for a refurbishment period beforehand. We’ll update this post once showtimes and a closure window are announced.
What This Means for Your Trip
If you’re visiting DCA before February 2027, you’ll still see “World of Color – One.” If your trip lands after that date, expect the new lineup instead. Either way, viewing strategy stays the same: Paradise Bay fills up fast, and reserved viewing areas (when available) are worth checking for on the day.
Why This Matters Beyond the Show Itself
World of Color returning to its original branding is part of a bigger pattern in Disney’s Anaheim announcements this year. Remember… Dreams Come True is also returning to Disneyland Park in February 2027, and the Magic Happens Parade comes back the same year. Disney appears to be resetting its nighttime and daytime entertainment lineup across both parks at once, not just refreshing one show in isolation.
