How to Rope Drop Adventureland, Frontierland, and New Orleans Square

These three lands sit back to back along the west side of Disneyland Park, which makes them a natural rope drop loop. Start in Adventureland, move through Frontierland, and finish in New Orleans Square, and you’ll clear four major attractions without doubling back once.

Start With Indiana Jones Adventure

Indiana Jones Adventure is one of the fastest-selling attractions on Lightning Lane Multi Pass, and one of the longer standby waits at Disneyland Park most days. If it’s a priority for your group, this is your first stop off rope drop, full stop.

There’s an interactive queue here too, part of the free Play Disney Parks app: an in-app decoder and translator for the temple’s hidden coded messages throughout the line. It only works in the standby queue, so Lightning Lane guests skip it.

Move Into Frontierland: Big Thunder Mountain Railroad

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad carries a 40 inch height requirement and is next on your loop. Waits here climb steadily through the morning, so treat it as your second stop, not something you circle back for later.

Finish in New Orleans Square: Pirates and Haunted Mansion

Pirates of the Caribbean has no height requirement, making it a good fit for the whole family. Its interactive queue feature, Fortune Red, is a fortune-telling experience tied to the ride’s theming, available through the Play Disney Parks app in the standby line.

Haunted Mansion also has no height requirement and tends to build a longer wait later in the day, so working it into your first two hours pays off.

Setting Up Your Day While You’re Here

Indiana Jones Adventure is worth booking on Lightning Lane Multi Pass even if you’re riding it standby first thing, since it’s one of the fastest sellers at Disneyland Park. If you rode it standby already, check the Tip Board for other rides in this loop and book a return time for later in the day while you’re still walking through. Where to Go Next

This loop connects to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge on one end, covered in its own Galaxy’s Edge rope drop guide, and to Main Street, U.S.A. on the other.
