How to Rope Drop Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland

There’s no virtual queue and no reservation to get into Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. Anyone can walk in whenever they want. What actually determines your morning here is one ride, one line decision, and a couple of bookings you need to lock in weeks before you even arrive.

The Big Decision: Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance

Rise of the Resistance runs on Lightning Lane Single Pass, not Multi Pass, which means it’s not something you can just book alongside your other rides for the day. You’ve got two paths:

Standby. Head straight there off rope drop. Waits here can still run long even first thing in the morning, so know what you’re signing up for.

Single Pass. Prices typically run $25 to $28 per person and sell out fast on busy days. If riding this one matters more than saving money, buy it as early in the day as you can, ideally the moment you’re through the gate.

Either way, make the call before you get in line for anything else in the land. This is the one attraction here worth building your entire first hour around.

Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run

Wait times swing wildly here depending on the day, so check the app for the current posted wait before committing. It’s one of the resort’s Single Rider attractions, but we don’t recommend using single rider your first time through. You’ll miss the pre-show story, the chess room, and you’re not guaranteed the pilot seat, all of which are a big part of what makes this ride worth doing.

The Datapad: An Interactive Queue Worth Knowing About

If you’re in the standby line for Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, the free Play Disney Parks app turns your queue time into an actual game, called the Star Wars: Datapad. It includes Hack, Scan, Translate, and Tune functions across Black Spire Outpost, plus a Rise of the Resistance queue mission where you pick a role: Resistance scout, First Order spy, or scoundrel. This only unlocks in the standby line, so guests who go straight to Lightning Lane or Single Pass miss it entirely. Worth factoring in if you’re not in a rush.

Book These Before You Even Leave Home

Oga’s Cantina and Savi’s Workshop both require advance reservations, and they book up fast, exactly 60 days ahead of your visit. If either is on your list, get that reservation locked in the moment your booking window opens, and schedule it for afternoon or evening so it doesn’t eat into your morning.

Getting There From Rope Drop

Galaxy’s Edge sits toward the back corner of Disneyland Park. If Rise of the Resistance is your top priority, you’re better off walking briskly through Frontierland or Adventureland rather than detouring through Fantasyland, since either of those routes gets you there faster.

Setting Up Your Day While You’re Here

Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run is included in Lightning Lane Multi Pass and tends to sell out its booking windows quickly. If it’s not your first stop, check the Tip Board as soon as you scan into the park and grab a return time for later, even before you’re in line for anything else. Where to Go Next

Galaxy’s Edge sits right next to Fantasyland, which we cover in its own Fantasyland rope drop guide, and Frontierland, part of our Adventureland, Frontierland, and New Orleans Square rope drop guide.
